Compositing with Insta 360 One X in Adobe After Effects CC 2019

In this tutorial, we'll explore how to composite footage from an Insta 360 One X camera in Adobe After Effects CC 2019. The process involves creating a composition and adding multiple files together to create a single file.

To begin, open After Effects and create a new project by going to the Composition menu in the Menu bar and choosing New Composition. In the Basic settings, make sure you are set up with the correct resolution and frame rate for your project.

Next, let's place our Insta 360 One X footage above Layer 1 in the Timeline. As we move over the Summer_Forest.mp4 layer, a blue highlight will appear, showing us exactly where we'll be placing this element. Come back up to the Project panel, click on the APEAK_Logo.ai file, and drag it down to the Timeline.

Now, let's add our logo into the Timeline as well. Notice that a composition has been created, and the video file has been added to the Timeline. To create a composition from this footage, simply click on the footage and drag it down to the Composition button and then release.

In this tutorial, we'll be working with a video file that is already 1920 x 1080 at 29.97 fps. We can see these settings in the Project panel. We want to create a composition that matches our video footage exactly, so we'll click on Cancel because we don't want to use any of these settings to create a new composition.

We can also set the Background Color in the Composition Settings menu at the bottom. Our composition has 0 hours, 00 minutes, 10 seconds and 00 frames based on a 30 frames per second Frame Rate. We can also set our Frame Rate and Duration of the project.

To get started building our first composition, we'll go ahead and choose the preset or click out of the menu. Then, we want to go ahead and click on the Preset pull-down and choose whatever resolution and framerate we would like to work at.

At the top, we can name the composition under the Composition Name. That's it! With these steps, you should now have a composition set up in After Effects CC 2019 for your Insta 360 One X footage.
